Experience:
I have been teaching drums for the past two years. For
the past year I
taught out of a school in Chicago. I have experience teaching all kinds
of different levels and ages of students starting as young as four. I
have been playing drums for 8 years, and percussion for about 6 and
half years. I have also studied music (drums mostly) for the past 7
years. I was playing drums at my hometown church in Naperville, IL for
4 years. I have played for the high school worship ministry, junior
high ministry, Saturday night service, and Sunday night service. Plus I
have taken part in many music teaching programs at my church, some
playing drums and some playing percussion. Also, I have influenced
children with music on different mission trips to different areas of
the U.S. Lastly, I have had a lot of experience with many different
types of musicians and styles, ranging from rock, blues, jazz, country,
funk and folk; all, of course, have made me a better musician.
Focus:
My main focus in playing is to honor a holy and loving God and praise
his name LOUD! I want my music to praise his name and to be an offering
for his enjoyment. Other music also has a big purpose in my life, but
the reason I love to play is because of my heavenly father and savior.
History:
Music was always around when I was young. Both parents had music on a
lot when I was growing up and even my older sister helped push me into
liking music I never thought I would enjoy, but without a doubt my dad
had the biggest influence on me when it to came to music. He blasted
music all the time when I was young, and as I got older the same music
he liked I also enjoyed. Plus, he has a huge knowledge of music and
taught me much of what he knows.
Influences:
Without a doubt I have tons of favorite drummers in music. I love
classic rock, blues, folk, funk, jazz and of course worship. Classic
Rock was played all the time when I was young, and it was what I fell
in love with first. The other styles of music soon followed. Music in
my opinion from the 1950’s to the 1970’s is the
best.
Here is a small list of drummers whom have influenced
me, plus my favorite bands.
- The Who, Keith Moon
- Dave Matthews Band, Carter Beauford
- Led Zeppelin, John Bonham
- Chicago (1970-1982), Danny Seraphine
- The Police, Stewart Copeland
- Rush, Neil Peart
- Buddy Rich
- The Doors, John Densmore
- Stevie Wonder
- James Taylor
- Paul Simon
- James Brown
- Third day, David Carr
- Steven Curtis Chapman
- Eric Clapton
- Santana
- And any good hymn.
There are many others; those are just a few that
stick out in my mind.
All summed up:
Gods grace, mercy, and love have been good to me without a shadow of a
doubt!
“Hear this, you Kings!
Listen, you rulers!
I will sing to the Lord, I will sing;
I will make music to the Lord, the
God of Israel.”
Judges 5:3
